“Agentic AI” is becoming increasingly popular within the technology sphere. This term sounds futuristic as well as mysterious.
A simple definition of Agentic AI would be, Agentic AI refers to a system that does far more than reactively execute commands, it also autonomously figures out how and when to carry out tasks.
Because SMEs are more often operating under very restrictive budgets, the opportunities for such businesses can be tremendous.
From Tools to Digital Workers
Business tools (software applications) support a person in accomplishing their work. Agentic AI systems will do even more than provide assistance. They will assist in automating the execution of many tasks.
Consider an e-commerce store in Accra. If this store were to use a traditional business system, their staff would need to update the product list, answer customer questions, and check on the stock of items that were ordered.
However, if the SME were to utilize an Agentic AI system, they would delegate those mundane, and repetitive tasks to the machine. The agent would receive new orders and automatically update the inventory as well as respond to common questions posed by customers such as “What time will my order arrive?” Additionally, if there was a problem, the AI would notify someone to review the situation.
